Set up task templates in advance with various legal team members pre-assigned—either to share the workload or based on specialization or role. When the matter is created, evaluate its characteristics, add the appropriate members, and add the relevant task template.

Trigger

Action(s)
How it works
1
Workflow is triggered when a matter record is created in LawVu.
2
Retrieve information about that matter record.
3
Use a switch in Power Platform to branch your workflow based on the factors that determine which task template should be applied. This may involve multiple nested switches. For example, at the top level, you might branch by matter type, and within each branch, further differentiate based on specific characteristics—each leading the automation down a different path and applying a corresponding task template.
4
For each case in the switches, add members to the record—either those who will be assigned tasks from the template or those who need to be members of the matter in a broader sense. The latter group, such as business users requiring preview-only access, may include team leads who need visibility depending on the department. After adding the relevant members, apply the appropriate task template to the matter.
5
(Optional) Add a status message to the LawVu matter record to confirm that an automation has added members and a task template, based on characteristics of that matter.
Getting started
This workflow adds relevant members to a matter record immediately after it is created. It also adds a task template to the matter, with team members already assigned.
Many organizations use task templates to ensure work is delivered consistently, following a predefined process. There may also be specialist roles within the team, so task assignments within a template can be predetermined. In LawVu, a task template can be configured to apply automatically when a matter is created. However, matter types alone may not be sufficiently granular, as the type of work—and therefore the appropriate task template—is often determined by more specific characteristics of the matter.
With automation, you can divide the work automatically based on the characteristics of the matter.
